As an entrepreneur, coach, advocate, author, educator, runner, and mother, it is fascinating to reflect on the people and lessons that each stage of my life has produced - how they’ve shaped my life, my work and advocacy today.

My riverside childhood and affinity for creatures and quiet time. My early professional life teaching Spanish and a stint selling ranches in Wyoming. My studies and travels. And a running injury that suddenly served as a catalyst for turning my passion and perspectives into my life’s purpose.

Today, I wear sequins. Why not? Your path is worth celebrating, not waiting for the big moment, but the collective, bending, surprising, learning, beautiful collective moments that create the “dash” in your lifeline.

As I say to my run group, it’s about showing up, not about the run.

Thanks for showing up today.

“We are elevating everything about healing the human body.”

— Dr. Sam DuFlo

A nationally known and acclaimed holistic pelvic physical therapist, Dr. Sam DuFlo PT, DPT, PRPC, conceived of a new paradigm of pelvic health care which integrates a comprehensive and iterative approach to care with a range of therapeutic and manual techniques.

She is the Founder, Owner & Chief Medical Officer of Indigo Physiotherapy, a highly recognized and rapidly growing practice specialized in treating complicated pelvic pain and dysfunction, as well as prenatal, postpartum, and the athlete.

Dr. Sam and her work have been celebrated with a number of accolades, including receiving the 2023 Henry O. and Florence P. Kendall Award, being name one of The Daily Record's Maryland's Top 100 Women in 2023, Indigo Physiotherapy being named by Baltimore Magazine as Baltimore's Best Physical Therapist in 2021, and Indigo being named Baltimore Sun's Best Physical Therapist 2021.

While Indigo’s signature care experience and elevated ethos continue to drive its expansion, Dr. Sam promotes broader pelvic health awareness and advocates for better access to pelvic care in her work as an author, contributor, and speaker.

PRACTITIONER

Seven years ago, Indigo was the first practice of its kind, and educating people about pelvic health was necessary for survival,” shares Dr. DuFlo. “With that came a great opportunity to share our unique evidence-based approach and integrated methodologies, which are now the cornerstone of our brand and experience.
— Dr. Sam DuFlo

At the center of its unconventional care model is DuFlo's belief that patients deserve more and deserve better. Indigo’s industry-high standards for hiring and uninterrupted one-on-one sessions support a faster, more comprehensive approach to achieving pain relief and functional goals.

To achieve the level of care and the experience Indigo promises clients, all practitioners are board equivalent status (or pending) and required to complete an extensive proprietary onboarding and menteeship facilitated personally by Dr. Sam. Beyond technique, education, and client advocacy, the Indigo experience applies elements of emotional and cultural intelligence.

The environment, too, is rich with intention. While the conception of every Indigo space is backed by research as well as influences from her travels and experiences abroad, DuFlo has continued to the bar with the opening of each new practice, pursuing the perfect blend of exceptionally client-forward design with elements of high-end hospitality.

Her determination to grow and lead as an example of authentic care has been centered around integrity, compassion, and an appreciation for the privilege she and her peers enjoy as doctors to heal people – to give them hope, comfort, and confidence.
